Desiging a Patio
A well designed patio area can add big value to your home - the trick is that you don't want just a cold patio slab but a space which is inviting and either cool or sheltered depending on the prevailing weather. If you live in a hot climate than you need to make sure the patio is well shaded with either shade sails or a traditional frame - preferably with grape vines covering it!
A cool climate patio, in contrast, may well benefit from a fire pit, outdoor pizza oven or a gas heater - which will warm up the space and extend the season you can use the outdoor area for. Keep some warm rugs at hand too - decorative and practical
Other tricks is to make sure there are some plants in the area - again they will make the area feel cooler if its hot and can provide welcome shelter if the area gets strong winds. A well-designed patio will not only add value to your home but it will also be a space that you will enjoy using for most of the year.
