Mind work and Muscle Work

Visualizing the work ahead and overcoming it is half the battle in training. Enlisting in a Vertical Jump Program does not only involve sheer force but sometimes sheer mind over matter, or muscle at that. The bodyâ??s muscular system actually has a regulating tendon that keeps people from lifting heavier objects more than the muscular system is capable of. However, in situations where this has to be overridden such as saving someone from a burning building, the mind jumps over this regulating tendon. This shows what the body is capable of.

Of course, it isnâ??t healthy to be always overriding the bodyâ??s safety mechanism. But if it can only harness at least an 8th of that amount of force by recruiting other muscle fibers to have a piece of the action, then the athlete is capable more than what he lets on. Visualization is a good way to get your body in gear for the task at hand. It is said that the subconscious works in images and not in words or reality, so whatever one visualizes being true will come true.

So before training, lie down and do some mind work too. This will be an effective tool in the hard training days or weeks ahead. Again, sometimes itâ??s merely sheer mind over muscle.
